The Bridle Path Events Committee

When: POSTPONED

Reservations Required – Space Limited – RSVP by March 28th

Speaker: Marci S. Cunningham

Marci will be introducing us to Endurance Riding. Many of us, I included, have had thoughts of doing this, but did not know where to start. This seminar will introduce you to the aspects of endurance riding, as well as give you some tips on how to get started.  Marci will be presenting a slide show demonstration and we will have handouts and ride information available as well.

Since 1984 Marci has ridden 12,245 miles of endurance rides on several horses.  Five of the horses have been registered purebred or registered half Arabians and two of them received their Legion of Supreme Honor from endurance points only.  One of her first endurance horses was an unregistered half Arabian which completed over 2,000 AERC endurance miles.  Four horses have participated in the AHA Distance Horse Program.  She has one 2,000 mile horse, one 3,000 mile horse and one 5,000 mile horse as she is mainly interested in accumulating miles on her horses instead of racing.  She enjoys riding in multi-day rides and has participated in the 2004 Pioneer XP ride over 1,200 miles of the pony express trail, riding 800 miles over five weeks.  Additionally, Marci has completed ten 100 mile rides including the Tevis Cup.  She is currently competing on horses that she bred, a 17 year old purebred and a 7 year old half Arabian and Marci also has two retired endurance horses which are all kept at her home in pasture. Marci has been a member of the Golden Empire Arabian Horse Society since the mid 1980’s and treasurer since 2003. She is also a member of the Kern Equestrians for the Preservation of Trails (KEPT) as well as an AERC member since 1984.
